About

Hey! I’m Colin, a software engineer and empathetic leader.

I grew up in Toronto CANADA during the 1980s. Toronto life in the 80’s was certainly excellent and exactly as depicted in Degrassi Jr. High. My dad had a job selling computer hardware which gave me easy access to some sweet gear. I started building computers and programming around the age of 8.

I get my energy from building cool software and helping other people do the same.

I’ve been working professionally as a software engineer since around the early 2000’s. I’ve been lucky enough to lend my services to interesting domains such as healthcare, education and internet. I’ve worked on some amazing software products over the years. Some of my favourites are fireworks, opensrs and hover.

I like to read about great leaders so I can cherry pick the good bits and cultivate my personal leadership style. I’ve been inspired by all the great leaders from George Washington to Kermit the Frog. I love the feeling of learning and applying new techniques to real world situations. My personal leadership approach would be best described as laissez-faire. I take the time to listen and understand so we can personalize a path forward that takes advantage of your unique attributes.

Aside from reading, my main hobbies are hockey and music. I’m a founding member and stalwart of the legendary North York Buds hockey club. I’m proud to say that we have managed to keep the Buds running for 22 consecutive seasons. I always love going to see live music. All the best stuff comes through Toronto and I’ve been lucky enough to catch everyone from Nirvana to Lady Gaga.

Recently I’ve been focusing on entrepreneurship through my mentoring and consulting business while attempting to be more rad at parenting than my 1980’s dad.

Be excellent to each other, and party on…
